Clay County SOL's Morgan Brian named Best player in the Nation, Again!
Morgan Brian, a member of the Clay County Soccer Club's SOL team was named the Mac Herman and NSCAA Division I College Player of the year for the second straight year. Only three other players in women's college soccer history have ever repeated the feat, and Brian is the only University of Virginia player to ever win the award twice. Brian was also the first three time 1st team All-American in UVA history and the first player to lead the Cavaliers to back to back College Cups. On top of all that Brian was also the overall Number One Draft Pick in this year’s NWSL draft and will begin her professional career next month as a Houston Dash player.
"I'm really proud of Morgan and all she has done, it couldn't have happened to a better person", said Luis Torres the Executive Director at Clay County Soccer and Brians coach for over 8 years as a youth player. "She is one of the hardest working and most humble people I've ever coached and it's all of that hard work that has made her the best college player in the United States". "As I was congratulating her on being selected the number one draft pick the conversation quickly turned to how much work she still has to do, and that's just how it's always been with her" said Torres. She's a great role model for the kids at our club and is looking forward to starting her signature camps right here in Clay County".
Morgan is currently with the U.S. National team in California as they prepare for the World Cup in Canada this summer.
